How to Change the Color of Hydrangeas?

Soil content is important for Hydrangeas because it should drain well yet also maintain sufficient moisture. Also, the acidity levels of the soil will have a direct impact on the color of your flowers. For deep blue flowers, keep pH below 5.5. For pink or red flowers neutralize soil to pH 7.0 or higher. Add lime to raise soil pH if you want to grow pink flowers. If you want blue flowers, add sulfur to lower the soil's pH.

When Should I Water My Hydrangeas?

Give your Hydrangea an inch of water each week. This includes any rainfall. If you're not sure when and how much to water, simply check the surrounding soil about 2 inches down. If the soil is dry here, it's time to water until it's moist.

1. Seed Stratification: Hydrangea seeds often benefit from a period of cold stratification to break dormancy. Place the seeds in a moist paper towel or in a container with moist vermiculite or peat moss. Seal the container or wrap the towel in a plastic bag and refrigerate it for 4-6 weeks. This mimics the winter conditions required for germination.

2. Soil Preparation: Choose a well-draining soil mix that is rich in organic matter. Hydrangeas prefer slightly acidic to neutral soil. Ensure the soil is loose and fertile to support healthy root development.

3. Seed Sowing: After the stratification period, sow the seeds on the surface of pre-moistened soil. Lightly press them into the soil without covering them completely. Keep the spacing between seeds according to the recommended distance.

4. Light and Temperature: Hydrangea seeds require light for germination, so do not bury them. Place the trays or pots in a location that receives bright, indirect light. Maintain a consistent temperature of around 70-75°F (21-24°C) for optimal germination.

5. Watering: Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Avoid overwatering, as it can lead to rotting of the seeds. Use a spray bottle or misting technique to water gently and prevent dislodging the seeds.

6. Germination Time: Hydrangea seeds can take several weeks to months to germinate, so be patient. Maintain the necessary conditions and monitor the trays or pots regularly for signs of germination.

7. Transplanting: Once the seedlings have developed several true leaves and are large enough to handle, transplant them into individual pots or containers with well-draining soil. Continue providing them with appropriate care, including adequate light, water, and temperature.

***At the moment, all Happy Gardening's products are typically shipped from one of our overseas facilities, so please allow up to 3-4 weeks to receive your purchase(s), though we've been seeing much quicker shipping times recently. Shipping time is typically dependent on how long customs take, which can vary from country to country.

For items that ship from our overseas supplier, there's typically a delay in tracking information being updated from the time the package enters USPS facilities in China to the time it's processed at USPS facilities in the US. This usually takes between 2-7 days on average, although it can take as long as 8-12 days. ***

Sometimes shipping times vary due to circumstances outside of our control, such as:

• IR Disputes/Strikes
• Weather
• Time of Year (e.g. Holiday Season)
• Large or Bulky Items
• Shipping Provider Error

If any of the above scenarios occur with your package we promise to keep you well informed with as much information that is available to us.

 SHIPPING GUARANTEE:

To back up our commitment and promise to you we will refund the cost of shipping (or give a partial refund if shipping was free) on any item that takes longer than the following time frames to arrive at your destination. 

RISK-FREE SHOPPING:

If for whatever reason your goods don't arrive within 60 days, you will be refunded in FULL for that item. This is our promise to you!

INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY:

We cannot guarantee that you will or will not be charged any customs taxes or duties. You are responsible for all applicable customs, duties, taxes and fees charged by your government. Please contact your country's customs office for respective charges and rates on packages coming outside of your country.

NOTE: On very rare occasions international shipping to some countries can take 4-6 weeks, or possibly longer for the slow-to-ship countries listed below. We are not responsible for any delays caused by the destination country's customs clearance processes. Shipping to certain countries may require additional shipping fees due to the geographical location.

WRONG ADDRESS DISCLAIMER:

It is the responsibility of the buyer to make sure that she or he enters the address correctly. We cannot guarantee address changes due to strict shipping schedules. Please double-check the address you are entering, as we will NOT be held responsible for packages that are sent to the wrong address that the buyer has entered.

If your order is already processed or has already shipped, we cannot change the address and the only thing we can do is wait to see if the package gets returned back to us. In that case, we will be able to provide you with an exchange or refund.
